Great book! Interesting look inside the life of a famous boy band and their entourage of old friends. Conflicts arise in the group of friends with the introduction of girlfriends who may be using the guys for their own benefit. The impact of social media is obvious and intrusive. Will it keep true love from being expressed? I love the lyrics to the band's songs listed before each chapter. Great story by a newly discovered author.

Having read ‘Cemetery Tours’ by this same author and having enjoyed it thoroughly, I became curious about Jacqueline’s boy band series. Just as in her other series, this book keeps the reader wanting to know what will happen next. The story is well written and follows the exploits of a 20-year-old girl in relationship to a boy band. It is a dream job with her best friend. However, just as in real life, twists and turns come when she least expects it.
From the very first page, you find yourself in the mind of Melissa Parker, best friends with one of the band members of Kind of September. It amazed me the thoughts that bounced back and forth in Melissa’s mind. The feelings, the heartache, and the joy make this young adult book a great ride. True or not, all these emotions roll into her character’s perception of the world.
For those that like young adult literature, I can see why the book would have such a huge appeal. And just as you think things might be settling down, the ending lets you know greater things are waiting in book 2. The author has done an excellent job!
The Kind of September is the hottest boy band and Melissa Parker is best friends with one of its founding members, Sam Morneau. She travels with the band as an intern and is smack dab in the midst of all the drama surrounding the band. Not to mention, she’d secretly in love with Sam. Trying to hide her feeling from him gets harder by the day and rumors keep circulating about different members of the band.

I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down. In being friends with the author, I got a peek at this book when Jackie was still writing it. From the glimpses I got, I just wanted more.

This book didn’t feel like an indie book at all. All the characters were amazing and there was so much angsty drama that kept me completely entertained throughout it. With having so many characters, it can sometimes be difficult to keep up with all the different relationship, personalities, and dynamics, but Jackie did a great job. Everyone’s personality came through clearly and they were all so unique.

Jackie even wrote out some of the song lyrics for The Kind of September’s songs that accompanied each chapter. Typically in books, I grow bored by this kind of thing, but I didn’t with Boy Band. The lyrics flowed so nicely and I believed they could actually be songs that would be sung today.

Overall, this book was so great and exceeded my expectations (which were fairly high since I had gotten one of the first glimpses at the book when it was being written). I literally read it in one sitting and couldn’t put it down.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the drama and angst with teen romance, without the dreaded love triangle. It was witty and fun – a great ride for anyone who wants to sit back and be thoroughly entertained for a few hours.

Oh, and quickly, the ending just makes me want more!
I absolutely loved this book! I think I have read this and the rest of the books in the series at least 3 times! I couldn't put it down! I was hooked from the very first page to the very last.

The story pulled me in, and I felt like I was right there with all the characters. I definitely laughed, cried, screamed, sighed, and fell in love. I don't think I could pick out any favorites, I loved all the characters in the band. My least favorite was Tara, and if you read it you will see why.

Mel & Sam are seriously the cutest, and their chemistry is off the charts. I love the friendship all of them share.

I definitely recommend this book and the whole series! It will leave you smiling and will totally be worth your time. Be prepared to stay up late through.
If you like Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell then Boy Band is a must have for your reading collection.

The Kind of September is the hottest boy band since New Kids on the Block, Take That or that other band that's popular now *wink* (okay yes I was a massive fan of NKOTB!) And the boys in The Kind of September are exactly what you would expect them to be, handsome, talented, fun-loving who all sing, dance and flirt their way through their social media, interviews and television performances. Poor Mel, She has been best friends with the boys since they were all in high school, but what makes matters worse, she's in love with Sam.

Boy Band is not only a terrific romance but Jacqueline E. Smith does a terrific job of showing all the horrors and madness of today's social media, fangirls and twitter trolls that surround today's stars. A modern story highlighting the destructive forces that follow boy bands all over the world. The author also gives us the behind the scenes story of the boys that show they are just a bunch of boys on tour, they smell, they eat, they prank each other and most importantly they are just a group of normal boys who love to sing and love their fans.

Poor Mel, not only is she desperately in love with Sam (and trying to hide it from the rest of the band) but she also has to deal with the rumors and innuendo surrounding her friends, typical touring dramas, overzealous pop-star girlfriends and find time to study for her online university exams.

This was a great read and I certainly recommend it.
