It's Homer made readable by the average Joe. It's Glynn Iliffe's inimitable, riveting style of historical fiction. What need is there to say more? Bravo!
Great series
Not as fast moving as the previous episodes. Sometimes a story line drags on a little too far to retain my interest. Fingers crossed that 6 picks up the original pace.
Well written epic series -- turn-key ready for an HBO series like Game of Thrones. Producers/directors would have fun making this series into GoT like episodes.
This is a difficult book to read moreso because it doesn't have happy endings but instead perpetual mishap and despair. And yet the tome is worth reading especially after the previous 4 books in the series.
Far less interesting novel than the rest of the books in the series. The story is very close to the narration of Odyssey, a compliment to the wealth of Homer's writing, but not so good for Mr. Illiffe's own effort. All in all, contrary to all the previous books, it took me a while to overcome the urge to stop reading the rest of the book early on and I kept on hoping for a change that never came. It was boring and with few surprises (only the lotus eaters sub-story had something of interest to offer). I do hope the next book will be fresh again with more to offer than a re-narration of the ancient story,
This book like the four others I have read, is filled with adventure. It is not a copy of Homers book but a great deal like it. It will keep you interested in what happens to Odysseus and his friends as they travel the outer world. I highly recommend the book and the series.
