The Devil Is a Marquess Rescued from Ruin Book 4 edition by Elisa Braden Romance eBooks
This is the fourth book in Braden's Rescued From Ruin series. The characters from the first three books are mentioned in passing with the exception of Lady Wallingford who continues her role of greek chorus to the main storyline. The Marquess of Rutherford or Viscount Chatham as he was known in the first 3 books is an unrepentant sot who agrees to marriage with Charlotte when he hits rock bottom both financially and physically. This is the novel I wanted when Braden told Colin's story in book three. The author gave a reason for Chatham's descent into the hell of alcoholism, gave him a plausible reason for change, and then details his recovery from pale addicted man whore into a strong brave hero for wallflower Charlotte, the tall gangly red-head laughed at by the ton in the other novels. The book is well written and well paced. The story begins with the arranged marriage of the couple and uses the restoration of the Rutherford ancestral home as a metaphor for the restoration of Chatham's mind and body. Both the manor and the lord are rebuilt by the care of a good woman. An old fashioned stereotype freshly rendered here.

The Devil Is a Marquess Rescued from Ruin Book 4 edition by Elisa Braden Romance eBooks Reviews
OMG I LOVED BENEDICT/CHATHAM AND CHARLOTTE'S STORY!!
After 5 years on the marriage mart the tall, red hair, intelligent, smart Charlotte Lancaster has failed to land a husband. Her father the filthy rich American Merchant has bought her a husband. The disreputable, callous, whore mongering, gambling, drunk Benedict Chatham now the Marquess of Rutherford after his fathers recent dead.
I truly hateD Chatham from the pervious 3 books in the series. He was an awful person. But with the careful and gradual way the author reveals Chatham's real and true character is poignant and totally believable that he has changed. Once His past is revealed and he has stopped drinking and starts taking responsibility for his life and his new wife I fell in love with him.
Charlotte always thinking she was just not pretty enough, too tall with red hair and freckles never waiver in her growing friendship and then love for her new husband. As the layers of the true Chatham is revealed she begins to fall in love with him. Charlotte is intelligent, kind, compassionate and very loving. Her and Chatham learn the true meaning of love. They also, have one hot and sexy marriage, but this doesn't happen right away. There is a heated build up to there sexual marital relationship. Charlotte has never even been kissed by a man let alone made love too. But she enters her marriage bed with complete courage if not confidence. I loved the way Chatham begins to make Charlotte feel that she is beautiful and very desirable to him.
This was truly a great romance story. I just loved it and it will go on my re read list along with bks. 1 and 2. Sorry can't included bk 3 in the re read list. I am still upset with the violence toward the heroine in that story. I am off to read bk5 When A Girl Loves And Earl!!
Wow, I've found a new author to read this summer! This book was simply fantastic, stayed up way to late last night to finish it, and will likely to the same tonight with the first book in this series. The characters were wonderfully developed, the love scenes sizzling hot, the plot well-paced and the author's writing beautifully descriptive without being the least bit over-embellished. If you like sexy historical romance, this is a book you don't want to miss.
This is not my usual reading genre. I usually stick to Highlands romance but somehow I came across this and downloaded the sample and then was hooked.
Admittedly, while reading the first few chapters I thought it was going to be a boring book. It didn't take long to get into it and am I ever glad I stuck with it because this is one of the best romance books I've ever read!
I absolutely loved the Hero and Heroine and laughed at the many sarcastic comments from Chatham. He reminded me of Chandler on Friends. This book was SO steamy I'm surprised my reading device didn't ignite! The H&H definitely had chemistry! I loved the respect and admiration they showed each other and that they were actually friends too.
This was a perfect read for me. I loved feeling involved with the story and falling in love with the characters. Especially Chatham. I would like my OWN Chatham please!! I honestly feel like starting this book again and I just finished it an hour ago.
Edit May 1st, 2017 I have just finished this book for the second time and my opinion remains just as high. I think I will read this at least once per year. It is that good, but now it's like going back to see two old friends and get excited about them all over again, sigh....
What can I say? Oh Elisa Braden, this is the best!
I enjoyed the previous three books and was so looking forward to this.
In all honesty I have read it twice already since Friday because I just love the story.
Redemption and arranged marriage is always a good theme in regency but this one is just exceptionally written. This book deserves more than five stars!
I receive a free ACR in exchange for an honest review. I also bought a copy to keep in my books to read again. I had not read Elisa Braden's books before this series. I fell in love with each book. The stories are well thought out and will keep you turning pages. They just keep getting better and better with each book. Now I'm looking forward for the next book.
I read a novel a day, that comes to 365 a year. That is a whole lot of books and historical romances are my favorite. When you read as much as I do it can be hard to find good books you haven't read yet. I really, really enjoyed this book. Most books I read I give 3-4 stars, this one deserves 5. It's smart and sweet. I loved the premise and characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.
If you have not read Elisa Braden yet, this is the book to get. You will enjoy the two main characters Charlotte and Chatham and revel in their love story. I know once you finish this book you will want to buy the others in this series. The intensity you feel between the hero and heroine is hot and you will need a nice glass of ice water to cool down. ENJOY!!!
